Quilt Gallery

Use the photos in this Quilt Gallery as idea stimulators for your own unique baby quilt designs.

What is a "baby quilt"?

Baby quilt -- my definition -- A small (34" x 40" or 34" x 60"), 3-layer fabric that is used to cover or wrap a baby in.

Basically, what defines a quilt as a baby quilt is it's small size and it's use. Primarily, it's use.

Small quilts can also have other uses, such as: as wall hangings, as wraps for young children when they come out of the pool, for covering dolls when playing house, and so forth.

Any quilt design can be configured to fit into any space you want it to occupy.

Therefore, if you had a design that was originally created for a space of, say, 64" x 90", by adjusting the dimensions of the individual pieces that made up that design, you could fit it into a larger or smaller space (i.e., make a quilt that was larger or smaller than the original but with the same or similar design).

This is my reasoning for not limiting the photos in this Quilt Gallery to only very small quilts. Ideas can come from anywhere ... even from larger quilts.

All quilts were designed and created by me (Joyce Zborower) unless otherwise indicated.

Enjoy!

Our demonstration Bargello Baby Quilt

Click the photo to go to the free cutting and sewing instructions for Train Quilt #2. It's very similar, but a bit different as I never make two quilts exactly alike.

I had to make it again to get a usable set of step-by-step photos -- which will be uploaded as soon as I can get them processed. Thank you for your patience.

Links for instructions for making this quilt are also entered on the page titled Design Your Own Quilt (see navigation bar on your left) then scroll to the bottom of that page. You can also sign up on that page to receive your free cutting and sewing instructions .pdf as soon as it's ready.

The .pdf can be downloaded, printed out, and used at your sewing machine.

This was my first attempt at bargello. The mistakes are all mine!
It's very easy to get confused. This is why it's very important for you to figure out a way to keep the pieces in their proper order as you cut them, organize them and sew them one-by-one onto the backing.
